The tranzit of Venus

Today was the tranzit of Venus. We didn't see it 8n person, but mom brought up the tranzit of Venus from Hawaii. The sun changed color once, but that's it. When we went to the top of a parking garage for a speical thing where you could try and see the Tranzit of Venus, we got some weird glasses that make you not able to see anthing other then the sun. We also got to look at awesome telescops.

Warrors

Warriors is a series of book about cats. There's different series inside the series. They are Regular, The New Prophecy, The Power of Three, and Omen Of The Stars. I am on The Power of Three, Eclipse. They are very good books. If the cat is under 6 months old, they have kit at the end of their name, such as Whitekit. If their an apprentice, they have paw at the end of their name, such as Whitepaw. If their a warrior, they can have a variety of tings a the end of their name such as tail, storm, pelt, or fur. their might be some others, but I'm not sure.

Some of the main charicters are Firestar, Sandstorm, Graystripe, Jawpaw, Lionpaw, Hollypaw, and Dovepaw.

jordan's frist post (it's on baseball)

In baseball when you throw you put the ball next your ear. Then you step forward with the opposite foot. When you catch you trap the ball with your hand in the glove.

Outdoor Activities at Bug Camp

Outdoor activities at bug camp are very interesting, exiting, and FUN!!!!
  1. swimming.
MSU swimming pool,
IM west.
It has a platform tower that you can jump off at different heights. You can jump off the 3M, and 5M platforms.

       2. bug collecting
around and off campus.
We had large nets to catch bugs with. After we caught them, we put them in a "kill jar". They are jars that you put poison in to kill a bug so you can pin them. Pinning is putting bugs on a pin and putting them on display.

       3. capture the flag
MSU natural science, outside. The boundary/middle line was the fence. The flags were hidden so well, nobody got either flag!

       4. a few outside games
Those seemed like random games. After that, we went to the museum. They were fun games. They were:
  1. blob tag
  2. ninja
  3. don't get eaten by the lion

St. Louis, July 2009

On our way back home from a vacation in Branson, we stopped in St. Louis to get an up-close view of the arch. We drove quickly through STL on our way down and just waved at the Arch from the interstate. Since the kids were interested in learning more about the Arch, we decided to make an actual stop on our way back.

(Click pictures for full size)
The kids were very excited about being so close to the Gateway Arch, but I was a little nervous about going up. Usually, I can handle just about any rollercoaster and I don't have a fear of heights, but starting the day off with biscuits & gravy and a side of bacon was not helping my stomach at all. It was hard to believe we were going to be on top of this thing in a few minutes:
I really didn't know how the elevator system worked. I didn't get a chance to visit the Arch when I was in STL back in November, but some friends told me it was not a fun ride for the claustrophobic. They weren't kidding. The "pods", as my hubby described them, felt like they were right out of the movie Men in Black: 1960's ultramodern.
Stephen and I were hunched over the whole time, trying not to hit our heads on the top. I feel for the REALLY tall people, who must be very uncomfortable. The pods are made to rotate as you incline, shifting a total of 155ยบ from bottom to top. It was a little freaky. Perhaps the strangest thing was always feeling that you were looking right at the outer "skin" of the arch, and thinking about how a thin piece of metal was the only thing keeping you from the outside air.

Here's my video of our ascent:

And here's Part II, where we investigate the top and the kids give a shout-out to their teachers:

Here are the kids, posing at one corner of the arch.

P.S.: On our way out, I asked Jordan to stop jumping around in the crowded hallway exiting the pods. When she kept doing it, I told her she wouldn't get to play video games in the car for one hour. The man in front of me turned around and congratulated me on my parenting. This event marked the second time in my life I have been told by a total stranger that I was doing a good job as a parent; therefore, it must be true!

Happy February!!

So... belated Happy Holidays, Merry New Year, and Grumpy Groundhog Day from Max and Jordan (6 more weeks of winter? Please make it stop!!).

Since I haven't blogged in so long, here's a quick update as to our adventures since last July.

We went to the Michigan Renaissance Festival in August. It was Pirate Day!

Max went up in this giant bungee thing and had a great time.

In September, we visited the Detroit Zoo. This is the underwater part of the Arctic exhibit.

In October, Jordan celebrated her fifth birthday with a Sweet Little Princess Party. Here she is getting her nails done.
For Thanksgiving, we went to Austin and got to see UT whoop up on A&M:

Finally, in December we stopped in NJ to visit some old friends:

That's the five minute update! Maybe I'll find more time to blog this year (but maybe not. These kids keep me busy).
